NSF observes 67th anniversary of Naga flag hoisting day
Dimapur, March 22 (EMN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) observed the 67th anniversary of Naga national flag hoisting day on March 22 at Parashen in Rengma region, the site where the Naga national flag was first hoisted in 1956 by Thungdi Chang, C-in-C Naga Home Guards, NNC.
An update from the NSF stated that a symbolic programme was held which was attended by members and representatives of the Sendenyu Logvü Students’ Union (SLSU), Sendenyu Youth Organisation (SYO) and New Sendenyu village elders among the NSF officials.
NSF president, Kegwayhun Tep, delivered the solidarity message wherein he reiterated that the Naga Students’ Federation would continue to honour ‘this historic day’ in the days to come. He also offered homage to the past leaders for their impeccable contributions and selfless sacrifices to protect and defend the Naga identity by hoisting the Naga national flag for the very first time at “this very site.”
A brief account about the monumental site and date of significance was delivered by the representatives from Rengma Selo Zi and the village leaders.
NSF general secretary, Siipuni Ng Philo, chaired the programme, while Benjong Longchar said the invocation and the vote of thanks was proposed by its vice president Atokiho Sumi. The programme concluded with a benediction said by its Speaker James Brilliantson Kashung.
The team also visited New Sendenyu village primary school and had an interaction with the teachers and students on matters of academic concerns.
