NSF MMT: Vafümei, Ura Uvie, New Market and Red Scars book quarter berths

Kohima, Oct. 20 (EMN): Vafümei Gaziphema FC blanked Infinite FC 4-0 in Thursday’s first match of the ongoing NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy to sail through the quarter-final round.

Dairhü scored a brace while Rowland and Veshalou contributed a goal each for Gaziphema to claim victory.

Sikho Thou, organising committee member, awarded the man of the match to Veishalou of Gaziphema.

In the second match, Ura Uvie booked their quarter-final berth with a comprehensive margin of 11-0 over SWAT FC.

Kevisanyü Peseyie and Nune Medoze scored braces while a goal each came through Nythong Magh, Kekhrieletuo Tsira, Shürhosül Zhotso,Toka, Nosal and Rokovolie.

SWAT FC’s Thejalhouvi Mere scored an own goal during the lopsided game as Ura Uvie maintained a clean sheet to enter the quarters.

The man of the match was awarded to Kevisanyü Peseyie of Ura Uvie by Vikato S Aye, vice president of central youth organisation, NDPP.

New Market FC humiliated Bucaneers FC 17 – 0 to book their quarter-final slot with their scoring machine Rhitsho Mero netting in an impressive 11 goals.

Rhitsho has carved a niche for himself by scoring a total of 20 goals in three matches and is currently the top goalscorer of the edition.

Toying with their opponents further, Sinlo Kent scored twice while Kivi Zhimomi, Yunshalo Kemp and Neisede Peseyie contribute a goal each for New Market.

After Thursday’s match, New Market, a local favourite team in the state capital, is now credited with having scored the highest scoreline in a single game.

The man of the match was awarded to talisman Rhitsho Mero by Sunup Longchar, proprietor of G Sport Nagaland.

Red Scars FC progressed to the quater-final round after overpowering Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO) 5-1.

PYO’s happiness was short-lived as their only goal netted by Vikehiezo Mejura in the 7th minute was soon equalised by Lalsiem for Red Scars in the 17th minute and the scoreline stood 1-1 at the end of the halftime.

After the breather, there was no looking back for Red Scars as Elminhao Kilong scored a brace while Serto Kom chipped in with another goal.

Red Scars cheerfully sealed off their victory as PYO’s Ropfükolie netted an own goal in the 73rd minute.

The man of the match was awarded to Chongloi of Red Scars by Medo Yhokha, advisor, Technical Education and Election.
