Angami Students’ Union officials and organizing committee members declaring the fixture of the NSF Martyrs' Trophy 2016 during the press conference at KPC conference hall on September 22.[/caption] KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 22: The 17th edition of NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy will kick off on September 24 at Kohima local ground under the theme “Goal for Peace.” Making the announcement this evening at a press conference held at Kohima Press Club conference hall, the organizers, Angami Students’ Union, informed that a total of 66 teams with 1188 players would be participating in this year’s edition, making it the highest participation ever in the history of the NSF Trophy. A total of 65 teams will participated during the 14th edition, it was informed. Of all the participating teams, this year’s edition will hold a special place for the defending champions Barak FC as they will be attempting for their third consecutive title. Some other prominent teams participating in this edition are Senapati FC, New Market XI, Nagaland Police (Red), Lamkang S.C. and Addax FC. The winner of the tournament will walk away with a cash of Rs. 1, 60,000 and runner-up to get Rs. 100,000 respectively along with running trophies. The third and fourth position winners will be given Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively. The four losing quarterfinalists will also received Rs. 10,000 each. Individual awards for ‘Player of the tournament, best defender, best custodian, highest scorer, best midfielder. It was informed that the player of the tournament will receive a scooty (two-wheeler).There will be only one match during the inaugural day on September 24, wherein, Meriema FC will play against Dejavu FC at 1.30 P.M. From September 26 onwards, four matches will be played till October 7 with the first match starting at 9.30 am. The organizers informed that entry on the inaugural day will be free of cost. The tickets are priced at Rs. 30 till the pre-quarters, and Rs. 50 from quarterfinal onwards. The inaugural function on Saturday would be graced by R. Tohanba, parliamentary secretary for Municipal Affairs, Economics & Statistics, as the chief guest. The NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy since its inception is annually organised by the Angami Students’ Union under the aegis of the Naga Students’ Federation, in memory of the two student martyrs late Vikhozo Yhoshü and late Kekuojalie Sachü. nsf-trophy-2016-fixture-copy
