Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Tuesday denounced the proposed deal between the six rebel groups based in Karbi Anglong area of Assam and the government of India, stating that it was done without “the consent of the Naga populace who are the original inhabitants of the area”.

The student body stated in a press release that it would not accept any tacit attempt to divide the Naga people.

“While in appreciation of the efforts by the parties to denounce violence and chart out a future sans it, the federation is not in acceptance of the attempt to further divide the Naga homeland. It is truly saddening that the voice of the Naga people, who are the original inhabitants of the region, were never heard nor sought throughout the negotiation process,” read the press release. Reminding that the NSF would stand committed to assert the inherent right of the Nagas and would continue to strive for the unification of ancestral homeland, he asked the Nagas in the region to “refrain from attending the signing ceremonies nor partake in any events related to the same”.
