Responding to a message clip of an impending earthquake to occur on February 26 at 12 noon for 31 seconds being circulated on the social media, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home department informed that the warning being circulated was not from a government authenticated or authorised agency.
An update from NSDMA informed that the warning has no relation to any of the authorised nodal agency monitoring seismic activity in the country such as the National Centre for Seismology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, government of India.

NSDMA, therefore, advised the public not to panic but be aware and continue adhering to the various safety measures issued by the NSDMA from time to time concerning earthquakes considering. It mentioned that Nagaland and the rest of Northeast region lies in the seismic zone-V and in a tectonic plate boundary which is most vulnerable to earthquakes. Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN)
