DIMAPUR — Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state between August 16 and 19, urging residents to take necessary precautions to minimise risks.
According to the NSDMA, the state is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, with some areas likely to experience intense showers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The weather conditions could increase the likelihood of flash floods, landslides, and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The authority advised the public to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours, and ensure children and elderly family members are kept safe indoors. Residents in flood-prone zones have been urged to prepare emergency kits, store drinking water, and keep essential documents in waterproof bags.

Farmers have also been cautioned to take preventive measures to protect standing crops and livestock.
District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) have been instructed to stay on high alert, monitor vulnerable areas, and coordinate with line departments for a timely response to any emergencies.
The NSDMA further appealed to the public to follow official weather updates and advisories, and to report any incidents to the nearest district control room for immediate assistance.
