Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home department handed over one hearse vehicle to the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on Friday, January 8, for the purpose of disposing dead bodies during the pandemic and also for other uses
The hearse vehicle, equipped with a freezer box and back up inverter for single body, was handed over to the principal director of Health and Family Welfare by the advisor of NSDMA, Kazheto Kinimi, at the state emergency operation centre (SEOC), NSDMA, Home department.
The advisor dedicated the vehicle to NHAK for the service of the people of Nagaland, a DIPR report stated on Friday.
An update from NSDMA informed that prior to the handing over programme, the principal secretary of Home, Abhijit Sinha, had on December 10, briefed the executive committee of chief secretary special welfare fund (CSSWF) during its meeting on the need of a hearse vehicle in Nagaland. It stated that based on the need and requirement, NSDMA has purchased the vehicle and handed over to NHAK.
It also stated that OSD to the government of Nagaland, Johnny Ruangmei, who also chaired the programme, briefed on the guidelines for operating the vehicle.
It added that the principal director of Health department, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie, thanked the state government saying that the vehicle would benefit the people of the state and would have a long impact for the needy citizens of Nagaland.
