NSCW raises crime against women issue with Dimapur authorities
Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): In the light of recent spate of crime against women, chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW), Khrienuo Tachü, met with Dimapur district administration and law enforcement agencies on November 3 to raise the issue of women’s safety in the state.
The purpose of NSCW’s visit was to interact with the concerned authorities seeking their opinions and suggestions so as to come up with some important steps and measures to prevent crime against women and prioritise women’s security issue, the chairperson stated on Wednesday.
It added that NSCW has taken note of the comments and suggestions of the district authorities to ramp up its effort to ensure a safe environment for women in the state.
Expressing concern on the increase of crime against women, Khrienuo concurred with the district administration and law enforcement agencies that mass awareness and sensitisation programmes with regard to women’s safety need to happen at the grassroots with the collective efforts of the society.
Khrienuo further stated that a strategic and co-ordinated effort of various stakeholders like district administration, law enforcement agencies, churches, NGOs, and tribal bodies could better the safety and protection of women in the state.
