DIMAPUR — On behalf of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW), chairperson W Nginyeih Konyak has lauded the ‘remarkable speeches’ delivered by the two elected women legislators on the floor of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).

A press note praised Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Horticulture and Women Resources Development, and Hekani Jakhalu Kense, Advisor, Industries and Commerce, for their speeches on the ‘crucial issues of gender equity, women empowerment, and 33% reservation’ in the ULBs.

“Your eloquence, passion and dedication to this cause left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to witness this historic moment where Naga women legislators made their entry and their voices heard for the first time,” the note read, adding that in a world where gender disparities still persist, their speeches served as a beacon of hope and inspiration.

It further said that it was not only commendable but also a testament to their commitment to positive change, and that their very presence in the house demonstrated that bipartisan support for gender equity is not only necessary but achievable.

“Naga women will continue to look upon you for inspiration and to be our voices even in the coming days,” it said.
