EMN DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 28 NSCN(K) said it is highly appalled and perturbed over recent abductions and brutal physical and mental afflictions meted out to three of its workers by NSCN(IM) cadres. The unfortunate victims Lt.Kepwang Konyak, Honkai Konyak, member (Konyak region) and Manjah Konyak also member, Konyak region were abducted on February 18 from Teru village, Mon district. According to Isak Sumi, PRO of the NSCN(K), the three workers were later tormented inhumanly for several days under captivity and several fingers of each victim were even amputated/ hacked off with machete. The condition of the three is still critical, he added. The statement of the NSCN(K) said that at these challenging and sensitive times, where cross section of the Nagas including political groups are being endeavoured to arrive onboard the political consensus for durable solution, such atrocities being committed on own fellow compatriots without compunction only seeks to further wreck the fragile peace. The statement then said that the NSCN(IM)’s leadership are asked to justify if this nonsensical display of violence is in harmony with their professed peaceful and honourable political solution. “Unless this loathsome episode stands corrected with appropriate compensatory measures to the satisfaction of the NSCN/GPRN and the victims in particular, ramifications would potentially be grave,” the statement cautioned.
