Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): The NSCN/GPRN (R) paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed CFSB/CFMG chairman, Lt. Gen. Shokin Chauhan AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM (retd.) on Friday Sep. 7 in Dimapur.
The meeting with the Ceasefire Supervisory Board/Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFSB/CFMG) chairman was facilitated through 'staff officer T Mere (dy. commandant)', stated a press release issued by the MIP, NSCN (R).
It stated that since the meeting was just a courtesy call, no particular agenda was discussed.
"However, the Chairman expressed his desire to work in co-ordination with the NPGs as far as peace is concerned, and said not to hesitate, but enlighten/inform him should any problem/s with regard to the Ceasefire issues crops up, since he was ever willing to discuss in trying to mitigate or perhaps try to solve the problems (if any). Nevertheless the Chairman was also of the view that such things are only possible if all stakeholders work hand in hand and in positive co-ordination," the release stated.
The NSCN (R) reciprocated and also expressed their desire for 'peace' to be on top of its priority list, and added that the organisation will lend out with all possible support with positive enforcement to the 'yearning and call for peace'.
"The NSCN (R) expressed happiness and is also very optimistic that a very experienced person like the Chairman (Chauhan) with vast knowledge, both within and outside the country and who is also very familiar with the North-eastern States, particularly Nagaland can surely bring about positive Changes," stated the release.
Lt. Gen. (Retd) Chauhan was posted several times to the northeast region and also Nagaland, "who served under various capacities as an army officer who also expressed his (Chauhan) love for the region and people of the NE".
The NSCN (R) is represented by ‘Kilonser’ Viniho Kiho (co-chairman CFSB), Kilonser Newell Achumi (member CFSB), Toshi Longkumer Secretary (CFSB) and MIP (I/c) Amento V.Chophi (tatar).
