DIMAPUR — The NSCN (R) has formed a five-member inquiry committee to investigate a recent incident in Zunheboto involving its cadres that sparked public outcry.

The decision was made during an emergency meeting held in Dimapur on August 3, led by president Y Wangtin Naga, Ato-Kilonser P Tikhak, and chaired by Kilo Kilonser Kavishe Zhimomi, according to an update received here on Sunday.

The update stated that the leadership vehemently condemned the violence, stating such acts are against the organisation’s basic principles.

“The Naga society needs more of healing, unity and brotherhood at this crucial time and the NSCN/GPRN will do everything within its capacity to achieve it and stop such violence from repetition,” it said.

In this connection, it said that a five-member committee would conduct a “free, fair and impartial probe, without any prejudices and submit its findings to the collective leaders within a period of 15 (fifteen) days.”

Meanwhile, the leaders urged the Naga people and the residents of Zunheboto in particular to remain calm and have faith in the inquiry committee.

“All necessary and disciplinary action will be initiated as per the findings of the reports,” it assured.
