Dimapur, Jan. 28 (EMN): The NSCN-R has claimed in a statement that the Assam Rifles (AR) had fired at two of its camps located at Thalot/Kenon village on Jan. 11 and Sallang village of Arunachal Pradesh on Jan. 27. Condemning the unprovoked firing, the ministry of Information and Publicity of the outfit claimed that the AR “literally siege the area by laying ambushes in all “in and exit” routes to the camps and are even planting bombs launching of operation against the NSCN taking advantage of the Cease Fire to cover up their own failures to prevent live of the common citizen by other groups in Assam and elsewhere from across the border is highly deplorable and called for, when both the GOI and the NSCN are consistently and persistently trying hard to resolve the Indo-Naga problems through talks and negotiation.” Stating that the NSCN (R) consistently supports the ongoing talks and to resolve the Indo-Naga political problems, it said ‘violence has no room in the Naga society’ and that ‘killing among the Nagas has become a matter of the past.’ “Every Naga individual is yearning for peace and NSCN (R) is no exceptional, but with the recent spate of violence and unprovoked firings by the Indian jawans at our camps, it appears that some elements are actively at work to demean and derail the sincere efforts put by both the representative of the GOI and the NSCN leader at the highest level,” read the statement. “The NSCN-R therefore urge the GOI to take appropriate measures and halt the unwarranted act of their jawans immediately in the interest of peace, or else we may have to reconsider our commitment as talks can't be held under duress. Conducive environment is must for a fruitful dialogue and permanent peace,” it concluded.
