DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has condemned the alleged raids carried out by the 43 Assam Rifles at the residence of the group’s secretary, Kilo (Home) affairs, Obed T Naga, on June 3.

In a press release, the NSCN (Khango) claimed that the AR jawans encircled Obed after he returned to his residence from a social engagement service and raised several ‘unwarranted questions.’

It stated that the AR personnel intimidated the NSCN official at gunpoint to append his thumb impression and signature in an NOC after they failed to find any evidence from his possession.

Maintaining that the ‘NSCN/GPRN’ signed the ceasefire agreement with Government of India as two separate entities, the group added that the raid carried out by the AR was a ‘gross violation’ of the ceasefire ground rules, which might affect the hard-earned ceasefire process in near future.

“When the NSCN and GoI are fully committed to settle the vexed Naga political issue through peaceful means, at this crucial stage the blatant actions meted out by the Assam Rifles creates a fear psychosis to the national workers and general Naga public,” it stated.

The NSCN (Khango) appealed to the ‘concerned authority to educate their boys the ceasefire ground rules and its mechanism in order to maintain a congenial atmosphere.’
