The “PRO and Finance Administrator” of NSCN-K, “Col” Isak Sumi on Monday issued a “public clarification”, the purpose of which he has claimed was, to “ensure fair hearing on the issue” of the NSCN-K’s forcible closure of cellular networks in Zunheboto town.
“The esteemed vice-president of Sumi Hoho, Mr Khehoshe Yepthomi called up Col. Isak Sumi, expressed concern on the standoff and offered to intercede and resolve the misunderstanding between NSCN/GPRN and Airtel company and the amount demanded was enquired but Col. Isak Sumi responded that no specific amount was set, wherein Mr Khehoshe suggested mediation for something lump sum,” the public clarification stated.
According to Isak Sumi, he had expressed gratitude to the vice-president of Sumi Hoho “for shouldering the intermediary task” after which the discussions ceased. “The same evening, Mr Khehoshe rang up Col. Isak Sumi and concerns were exchanged on pitiable developmental aspects of the district, the latter was also informed of the company’s inclination to withdraw operation from the District if the impasse continues. However, phone discussion could not continue and so the former assured to call back in the morning, meantime asked Col. Isak to think over the issue, unfortunately there was no phone call and only the press statement appeared instead after lapse of one day,” he said.
