Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): The NSCN (K) led by Khango Konyak has disclaimed a statement published in the local newspapers on Thursday.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the group expressed strong exception to the “self-styled unauthorised publication of the provocative, insensitive and controversial statement by one Viputo Chophy” in the guise of MIP, NSCN (K).

“The unauthorised statement has implicated Government of India and NNPGs in complete erroneous context for which NSCN/GPRN has awarded forced discharge to Viputo with immediate effect. It is also being clarified that Viputo Chophy joined NSCN/GPRN only recently and having placed under observation/probation, an official confirmation of his membership in the NSCN has not been accorded.

“Moreover, Viputo is in no manner associated with the MIP, GPRN, his statement is therefore disowned in its entirety and be expunged. In this context, the NSCN/GPRN has no connection whatsoever,” it stated.

In a separate statement, Viputo Chophy clarified that the content of the statement published on Thursday were his personal thought and ideas. “…I do own moral responsibility of such publication, as such the statement is considered null and void,” he stated.

Chophy also apologised to the government of India, the Naga political groups, especially the NSCN/GPRN.
