KOHIMA, OCTOBER 12

Cadres of NSCN(K) allegedly disrupted the Fete Day of Lower Agri Colony Kohima by threatening to close down and resorting to blank firing within the colony yesterday.
Colony sources said that while the denizens of the colony as well as from other neighbouring colonies were peacefully enjoying the Fete Day since morning, three persons armed with a 7.65 pistol and AK-47 claiming to be from NSCN(K) started threatening to close down the fete day resorting to blank firing.
The sources said the colony youth tried to nab them but they managed to get into a taxi and then escaped, the sources said, adding that colony youth also recovered the empty case shot from a 7.65 pistol. No casualty was reported.
Meanwhile, the Lower Agri Ward Council (LAWC), Lower Agri Colony Women Welfare Union (LACWWU) and Lower Agri Youth Organisation (LAYO) in a joint statement issued today vehemently condemned the ‘uncivilized act’ of some persons one of whom claimed himself to be one Akum 2nd Lieutenant of NSCN(K) and adjutant to Town Commander Kohima Region, who were roaming within the colony jurisdiction with arms in an inebriated state.
They alleged one of the accomplices of Akum fired a shot in the air from a 7.65 resolver to create havoc in the fete day event organized by the LAYO yesterday.
The incident happened around 2 pm at a time when the people of the colony and neighbouring colonies were participating in the event of which most of whom were children, they said.
The organisations then said that it would not tolerate any kind of anti-social acts and then warned that stern action will be initiated against the perpetrators of such act within its jurisdiction.
