Security force personnel have busted an NSCN(IM) camp, according to AR press release. Based on specific information about the presence of a temporary camp of NSCN (IM) in general area Bamsikilwa, Peren district, troops of 18 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a search operation on February 27.
During the search operation, column of 18 Assam Rifles detected a temporary camp of NSCN (IM) deep inside of Reserve Forest in general area Bamsikilwa on the Barail Mountain Range.
The camp was adequately equipped to accommodate UG cadres with facilities for living, cooking, assembly and miscellaneous activities. Some incriminating documents revealing important information have also been recovered. “It becomes palpable that the insurgent group continues to conduct movement and activities in complete violation of the Ceasefire Ground Rules,AR release stated. The UG camp was destroyed by burning by the local villagers and AR troops, the release said.
AR recovers cache of arms and ammunition
The 18 Assam Riffles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in well executed operation in the outskirts of village Old Chalkot near Athibung in Peren district on February 24.
Acting on a tip off, a joint search team of 18 Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police led to a successful recovery of cache in the forested area of Old Chalkot village.
According to AR release, during the pervasive search of the general area, a considerable quantity of war like stores were recovered which included two 7.65 mm pistols along with three magazines, one .22 pistol with magazine and eleven live rounds of 7.65mm calibre. The cache was found buried 1.5 feet underground, packed in polythene and was covered with thick foliage. All the recovered items were handed over to police station Athibung, the release said
