The NSCN (IM) has regretted the January 27 standoff between NSCN (IM) cadres and Assam Rifles personnel near the general field training headquarters (GFTHq) of NSCN (IM).

The NSCN (IM) in a press release alleged that the incident happened when the 2th Assam Rifles came too close for comfort breaching one km radius.

“The matter was, however, settled amicably keeping in mind the interest of the prevailing ceasefire. There was no snatching of weapons by both sides and mutually agreed to part ways peacefully with handshakes,” it stated.

The NSCN (IM) clarified that whoever had taken the video clips of the incident and uploaded in the social media, had done so without the knowledge or sanction of the NSCN authority or Naga Army.

“The uploading of the videos in the social media is regretted and the NSCN and Naga Army tender apology on behalf of the erring persons who had uploaded in the social media,” it stated.

Reiterating the group’s commitment to ceasefire signed in1997, the NSCN (IM) said it looks forward that such unfortunate incidents do not recur in future and that both the Naga Army and the Indian Armed Forces would respect the spirit of ceasefire ground rules.
