Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed dismay over the “unpleasant development” taking place at villages like Khekiho, Hazadisa and Industrial area, located only a few kilometres away from Hebron camp, since June 5 afternoon when Assam Rifles troops came in three trucks and a gypsy and stationed themselves at Government Middle School, Khekiho.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NSCN (IM) alleged that all passers-by were frisked by the Indian security personnel besides resorting to forced entry on their registry. It added that all gaon buras of the villages were asked to meet the AR officials and submit the name(s) of NSCN members from their respective village, if any.
While denouncing such activities, the NSCN (IM) stated that creating “such a bizarre situation” was uncalled for as it was in contrary to the spirit of ceasefire agreement. It added that the conduct of Assam Rifles would not help in building mutual understanding and trust that are essential parts of a peace process.
The group expressed bewilderment over what it stated was the Assam Rifles continuing “to hold persistent grudge” against NSCN (IM) and choosing to “come in its path by forcing frosty atmosphere.”
While pointing out that sanity should ultimately prevail because respecting the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks is critically important at this stage, the NSCN (IM) has asked the Assam Rifles to pull out from the places they have currently stationed near Hebron camp.
