Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has denounced misuse of social media to tarnish the image of its Naga army chief and thereby smudge the name of the group.

A NSCN (IM)’s statement issued by its MIP stated that such a social media nuisance is being floated on Facebook by resorting to hacking personal Facebook account by certain unscrupulous person and using ICICI bank from Madhya Pradesh, targeting the Naga army chief Gen. Ningkhan Shimray, MC @ Anthony Shimray and recklessly pestering him to transfer some money.

NSCN (IM) claimed that it is being done deliberately for the purpose of character assassination as a part of the malicious propaganda against the NSCN. It however stated that the truth would withstand any wave of adulterated social media contents and added that no hacking would prevail over the truth.

Clarification on Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary

In a separate statement, NSCN (IM) stated that the outcry raised by the Zeliangrong Baudi (Nagaland) alleging its chairman Q Tuccu of claiming Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary as “No man’s land” was absolutely baseless.

It clarified that at no point of time its chairman stated that Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary is “No man’s land” during his consultative meeting with tribal hohos in Dimapur. It has termed the allegation misleading, unfounded and far from ground reality.

It mentioned that during the Gilgal Camp (national hoho) held from March 27 to April 2, 1996, one of the resolutions adopted was to protect all reserve forests in Naga areas and preserve from human exploitation and encroachment.

“Prominently, the Intangki Wildlife Sanctuary is one such that attracted NSCN’s attention for the preservation of wild life. Since then, NSCN had stood by this resolution and protected the Sanctuary from illegal encroachment in the face of many attempts made by people with vested interests,” the statement read.
