Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the high handedness of the Assam Rifles in which several womenfolk were injured in their bid to rescue one khapur who was arrested by the security forces.
NSCN (IM) through its MIP alleged that one woman was seriously injured as her head was pierced with a gun barrel by the Assam Rifles personnel and had to be hospitalised at Nungba, while several women were also injured in the melee. The incident happened when womenfolk were protesting the arrest of one khapur of the NSCN (IM) from Zeilad region identified as Ringnichang on November 16 by 23 Assam Rifles at Riangpang village under Nungba sub-division.

NSCN (IM) has accused the security forces of violating the ceasefire ground rules by unleashing reign of terror on innocent women folk, who blocked the
National Highway 39 to demand the release of the arrested khapur. It added that the Indian army personnel showed their true colour again when the Khapur was tortured inside the vehicle of the Assam Rifles personnel even while the womenfolk tried to negotiate his release from the hands of the AR personnel.

NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the ‘illogical conduct’ of the Indian army personnel and the harassment meted out to the public, especially the womenfolk at Riangpang village by the Indian Army personnel. It regretted that such provocation and harassment by the Indian security forces happened again at a time when the Indo-Naga peace talk is in progress.

Meanwhile, NSCN (IM) has lauded the Naga womenfolk and public from Riangpang village and Nungba areas for their courage, sacrifice and timely intervention which led to the rescue of the Khapur on time.
