Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): Accusing the Assam Rifles of resorting to unabated atrocities on innocent Nagas, NSCN (IM) has appealed the Government of India to give proper guidelines to the former if at all the ceasefire is to continue and pave ways for conductive environment in order to bring lasting solution to the decades old Indo-Naga political conflict.
NSCN (IM), in a press release issued by its MIP, stated that its regional secretary of the Lotha region, Renthungo Odyuo, was randomly frisked and picked up on April 20 between Doyapur and Khekiho village road.
It added that its leacy Kevingol, was kidnapped by 3 Assam Rifles on April 24 at Mohonkhola, Kohima, while he was in town for shopping. It stated that the allegation against him for possessing incriminating documents and live bullets were false. NSCN alleged that he was taken to the Assam Rifles camp blindfolded and inhumanly tortured.
Later, he was forcibly taken to the house of its chaplee Kilonser at Viswema village. On their arrival at the chaplee kilonser’s farmhouse, the Assam Rifles team was alleged of resorting to third degree torture upon Kronyi, an innocent farm head, who was meted out with inhuman treatment.
NSCN has also charged the Assam Rifles of raiding the residence of its kilonser Dr. Kimong Lowang, in his absence in the early morning on April 26 at Purana Bazaar ‘B’, Dimapur, and picked up an innocent member by falsely accusing him of possessing single ammunition of 12 bore gun.
It was also alleged that the 34 Assam Rifles team raided the residence of its leacy of Sepoumaramth Region, Loli, at Kalinamai village in Senapati district on the same day. It also alleged that the 34 Assam Rifles led by its commanding officer, Col Gaurav Mahindra, raided the house of Rasüsanü, an innocent civilian, at Vakho Karong in Senapati district on April 27.
Stating that such unwarranted actions of the Assam Rifles were unacceptable and in contradiction to the ceasefire ground rules, NSCN (IM) has asked the Government of India to give proper guidelines to the Assam Rifles through the chairman of the ceasefire monitoring group. The NSCN has further demanded to return the arms and documents seized from the house of its chaplee kilonser at Viswema without delay.
