NSCN (IM) clarifies Phungyar incident during Independence Day celebration.

DIMAPUR — In connection with the Independence Day celebration in Phungyar on August 14, the NSCN (IM) stated that certain portions of the programme presented during the said event were inappropriate for the formal nature of the occasion and did not align with the values and the decorum expected.
A NSCN (IM) press release through its MIP has clarified that the inclusion and presentation of the said performance were neither reviewed nor approved by the higher authority in charge. It added that the segment in question was arranged independently by the programme organisers/ performers without prior knowledge of the ministry or the event’s presiding authority.

It has expressed regret for any discomfort or misunderstanding caused to the guests, dignitaries and the public. It also informed that measures are being taken to ensure that all future programmes are reviewed in advance and strictly adhere to the formal and respectful standards expected on such occasions.
Meanwhile, it appreciated the understanding of all attendees and stakeholders as they address the matter.
