Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): NSCN (IM) has clarified that one Thailikpou Panmei, who was arrested by the Indian army during “Operation Kekru Naga” was a deserter and terminated from the Naga national service on June 10, 2019.
NSCN (IM) stated this in responds to the claim of the Indian army aftermath of ‘Operation Kekru Naga’ conducted at Kekru village under Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district leading to the arrest of Thailikpou Panmei and recovery of arms and ammunition from the mobile hide-out of the NSCN (IM).
NSCN (IM) statement issued by its MIP stated that there was no connection of Thailikpou Panmei and the stolen arms and ammunitions.
What pained the NSCN (IM) most as part of the operation in Southern Nagalim by the Indian army was the involvement of many hands in smear campaign to put NSCN in bad light under any given situation. It was appalled at the approach of the Indian army by presenting unfounded allegations to the media to defile the political sanctity of NSCN.
It deplored the desperate attempt to undermine the NSCN at the time when the Indo-Naga political negotiation has entered a critical stage.
“Twenty two years is a long period for NSCN to be negotiating with the Government of India for a lasting political settlement. NSCN have come a long way spearheading the Naga people’s movement for their legitimate political and national right,” MIP statement said.
It added that NSCN has patiently endured all hardships, notwithstanding the sinister game plans and provocations throughout. NSCN also acknowledged the high price Nagas have to pay in order to find solution for a lasting political settlement.
NSCN (IM) further expressed indignation at the insincerity as reflected on the part of the Government of India by way of inciting divisive issues in the states of Nagaland and Manipur or Assam to be weighed against the NSCN. NSCN (IM) was of the view that such retrograded options are not going to help the Government of India in solving the vexed Indo-Naga political issue in the manner that would gain worldwide recognition.
