NSCN (IM) cautions traders not to hoard, hike prices of essential commodities
Dimapur, April 22 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) on Thursday cautioned the traders not to burden the consumers and common people at the time of pandemic by hoarding essential commodities.
A press release from the secretary, Ministry of Kilo Affairs, NSCN (IM), stated that there are reports of some business people taking undue advantage of the present Covid-19 induced situation by hiking the price of essential items.
It said there are reports of mustard oil being sold at INR 150 per litre against the normal price of INR 100 in the market, and other items like daal as well.
“It would be highly unethical on the part of dealers and shopkeepers in the markets to exploit the present situation following the spike in corona virus and the speculations of lockdown,” the press release read.
‘Artificial scarcity of essential items and goods in the markets should not be allowed,’ it added.
