To find an acceptable solution, we can think nothing beyond this Framework Agreement, says NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has accused the government of India (GoI) of deliberately going slow and “dithering” over the Framework Agreement (FA), saying that India is still ‘undecided how to go about in implementing it in the spirit that was agreed upon’ even after more than five years.

The NSCN (IM) stated this in the editorial of its news bulletin “Nagalim Voice” for the month of March.

The government of India and the NSCN (IM) signed a framework agreement on August 3, 2015 in an attempt to end the protracted Naga political issue.

“To keep the agreement hanging for over five years is a real test of patience for the NSCN in particular and for the Naga people in general. But NSCN showed remarkable endurance throughout,” read the editorial.

“To find an acceptable solution NSCN can think nothing beyond this Framework Agreement. Moreover, we have not gone too far by accepting this historic Framework Agreement by agreeing to solve the Naga problem on the basis of shared sovereignty (sharing of sovereign power) by respecting people’s sovereign right,” it added.

While stating that both the parties are required to work out the details and execute plans for early implementation of the FA, it claimed “the Government of India is deliberately going slow” on the matter and displaying “unacceptable posturing without specifying the rationality of going at a snail’s pace”, saying that five years is long enough to show its sincerity before the world.

“The beautiful words of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at the time of signing the Framework Agreement, ‘we believe there is no human problem which cannot be resolved with human wisdom pregnant with mutual respect and equality’, is the right approach to handle the Naga political issue without allowing the magnitude and increasing complexity to overwhelm the stakeholders,” it added.
