The Luyangba Yimkhiung-led NSCN/GPRN (K) on Monday reaffirmed its support to the collective leadership along with all the party workers, Naga Army and regions, and appealed to the impeached president Khango Konyak to accept the olive branch offered to him.
A statement issued by MIP said that the group held a cabinet council meeting under the leadership of acting President Luyangba Yimkhiung and Ato Kilonser Col. (Retd.) Isak Sumi on January 16 to access and take stock of the internal crisis “developed out of the self-style and unconstitutional action of our impeached president and his accomplices”.
‘The NSCN/GPRN being the people’s government had always respected and heeded to the people’s wishes and have maintained maximum restraint and offered olive branch to our impeached president several times but in vain.
It said that the impeached president ignored the appeal from several corners for reconciliation. “Therefore NSCN/GPRN through this communiqué advice the impeached President and his accomplices to stop issuing unauthorised and cheap propaganda maligning the respected and good image of NSCN for their personal agenda and rather take the olive branch in the offering for the sake of the Nagas if there is even a drop of patriotic blood left in them,” read the statement.
The statement went on to add that the NSCN/GPRN set-up is “intact with all its branches and agencies and functioning smoothly, therefore any orders or directives emanating from the impeached President are null and void.”
The NSCN/GPRN workers have also been asked to maintain calm and ‘uphold the Yezahbo, not to be swayed away or get intimated by unofficial and dictatorial diktats by the president’.
