DIMAPUR — NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has condemned the murder of Yumsen Matey, a former MLA from the Khonsa (West) constituency of Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh, and mentioned that whatever may have been the reason, taking the life of a man cannot be a solution.

In a note, the group said that Matey was a very kind-hearted, generous, and humble person, and one of the many who could feel the pulse of the people.

“It is very unfortunate to lose a good and promising leader at such a young age. It is truly a big loss to the Naga people of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL),” the nore read, adding that whoever has committed the crime has not only killed him but has also killed the future of a community.

It further said that it will take generations to have a leader like him who represented one of the most backward and remote corners of eastern Arunachal, bordering Myanmar, and mentioned that any amount of wealth one may accumulate is of no worth if the future of the people is left in limbo and chaos.

The group mourned Matey’s death and prayed to Almighty God to grant peace and solace to the departed soul, as well as strength and courage to the family and children during this difficult time.
