DIMAPUR—The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) has condemned the incident at Lapalampong village under Tizit area in Mon district, in which one out of four members of the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) allegedly abducted by the NSCN (IM), was killed on July 31.
The NSCN (Akato), in a press release, stated that four of its active members including three civil officials and a Naga Army officer were abducted and tortured while they were on the way to meet Konyak Union officials.
Alleging that “incumbent chairman” and deputy kilonser Temzei was “butchered to death” by the NSCN (IM), the NSCN (Akato) also expressed apprehension that the three other members namely, Honchai Konyak (tatar), Talem Konyak (leacy) and ‘Capt’ Wanglem Konyak, whose whereabouts are still unknown, were also killed.
Maintaining that the incident is a direct challenge to the “integrity” of the group, the NSCN (Akato) stated that it had so far upheld the resolution passed by the ENPO, KU and other CSOs asking all NPGs to avoid factional clashes.
The group stated that it is now the prerogative of the ENPO and CSOs to decide on what measures will be initiated against the “defaulting NSCN (IM) for blatantly and willfully defiling the resolution.”
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]“The NSCN on the other hand will do whatever necessary to defend our integrity, while upholding the desire of the people as the topmost priority.
“However the Naga People and the CSOs must clearly understand that though the NSCN will never spill the first blood, yet in the event of any threats, intimidation or unprovoked attacks, the NSCN as an armed organisations, is well resourced and copiously equipped and will accept no quarter but go to any extent to retaliate and thwart any sinister intent perpetrated by adversaries and outside forces,” the NSCN (Akato) cautioned.
The NSCN/ GPRN ( Khango), in a separate press release, stated that the “crime committed by the NSCN (IM) is totally unacceptable and unjustifiable” under any circumstances.
Stating that the incident comes at a time when Nagas are yearning for peace and reconciliation among the various sections of Naga society and political groups, the NSCN (Khango) advised the NSCN (IM) to refrain from acts of violence which is detrimental to peace and unity in the region.
