NPRAAF demands accountability in Nagaland government’s spending
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) on Friday adopted several resolutions at a meeting held in Dimapur, in connection with the utilisation of funds by the Rural Development department.
Through a press release, the forum sought explanation from the department on how the first installment of central assistance for the Financial Year 2023-24 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), dated July 24, 2023, amounting to INR 120.34 crore, was spent.
Besides a satisfactory explanation, it also demanded that the RD department provide photographic evidence of house construction, in adherence to the PMAY-G framework, which clearly states that “no deviation from the provision of the framework for implementation of PMAY-G is permissible”.
“The department must come up with detailed reply without ambiguity,” read the press release, adding that in the greater interest of transparency and accountability, it would bring other funds sanctioned by the central government to the RD department to the public domain.
NPRAAF added that it would initiate appropriate action against the department and ensure that fund sanctioned by the central government is properly accounted for, without misappropriation.
