Mokokchung, March 23 (EMN): The president of National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland unit, Ato Yepthomi on Saturday said that the party has sacrificed its two legislators for the cause of 26-Aonglenden by-election; and is ready to use all its resources for victory.
Yepthomi said this during a ‘flag hoisting programme’ of NPP party candidate O Tinu Lkr at Arkong ward in Mokokchung town.
“The two (former) NPP legislators threatened to leave the party if the ticket was given to Tinu. However, the party workers stood firm in our principle,” he said. Imnatiba and L Khumo Khiamniungan, formerly of NPP, joined NDPP recently.
“This is the most crucial election for the party and the party is committed to bet everything at its disposal to see that NPP comes out victorious,” he said.
Interacting with the media persons later, Yepthomi asserted that the two legislators’ departure has not weakened the party. He said that the NPP holds no grudge and it was the PDA who decided to cut NPP off the alliance.
Earlier, the NPP candidate O Tinu Lkr, acknowledged the “bold decision” of the NPP to let him contest on the party’s ticket.
