Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN):  The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state team, during the 10th leg of its district tour, held a consultative meeting with NPP Noklak district unit at Tourist Lodge in Noklak town on August 24.

NPP Nagaland stated that the meeting was attended by officials of the state as well as the Noklak district frontal bodies including women and youth wings along with prospective candidates for the upcoming 2023 assembly election from various constituencies of Noklak district, an update from NPP Nagaland stated.

“It was overwhelming to note that within a short notice of just five days, a huge turnout of around 180 people from various constituencies attended the meeting. The Noklak Tourist Lodge Hall was packed to full capacity and some sections of the crowd had to attend the meeting by sitting outside the hall,” it claimed.

It stated that the most encouraging aspect for the NPP during the meeting was the unprecedented support of the people from 57 Thonoknyu assembly constituency for the intending NPP candidate for the next assembly election, P Pongom.

The party claimed that Pongom has high prospect of “sweeping the next polls through the enthusiastic support of the general public, who are eagerly awaiting a huge transformation in the overall progress and development of their constituency.”

It added that Pongom, a renowned person among the Nagas for his sense of wisdom and integrity, is a former president of ENPO as well as former president of Khiamniungan Tribal Community. Pongom is also a three-time MLA and former minister of Nagaland.

In his address, NPP state president, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, called upon the gathering to focus not on wealth and momentary pleasure but to support the development of their area by voting into power leaders with integrity and wisdom. He also claimed that many prominent leaders are eager to join the party adding that in some of the constituencies, there are two or three candidates vying for the party ticket.

Sema further said the main aim and aspiration of NPP as a people’s party was to bring about rapid development of the region with collective effort of all concerned.

The other speakers during the meeting included Dr. Aimong Khiam, district president of NPP Noklak; P Pongom, intending candidate from 57 Thonoknyu AC; Khehoto Awomi, state vice president; Lima Longchar, advisor; Ranjit Singhvi, state advisor of minority cell; Jacob Krocha, state general secretary (Admin); and Imna Meren, state secretary (IPR).
