DIMAPUR — The MLA and president of the National People's Party (NPP) Nagaland state unit, A Nyamnyei Konyak, along with the rank and file of the party, extended warm wishes to the Konyak community on Aoleang.

In a press note, the party stated that Aoleang, also known as Aoleang Monyu, is a week-long festival observed by the Konyaks, primarily in Mon district. It is the community’s most significant celebration, marking the arrival of spring, the beginning of a new year, and the commencement of the planting season.

“The festivities bid goodbye to the harsh winter and welcome the warm spring season. It also marks the beginning of a new year for the Konyak community,” it read, adding that the festival coincides with the sowing of seeds, and rituals are performed to seek blessings from the divine spirits for a bountiful harvest.
