Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): The minority cell (non-tribal) of the National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland state along with the party’s state women and youth wings organised a Swacch Bharat cleanliness drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

The event was flagged off at 6 am by the NPP Nagaland state executive committee led by its president Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema and other office bearers including state general secretary (org.) Limanuksung Ao, and state general secretary (IPR and media) Tohovi Achumi, an update from the party stated.

The report stated that all the members converged at the Thahekhu village gate for a brief programme in which the vice president of state women wing, Alemla, said the invocation prayer. It was followed with words of encouragement delivered by the state president and the state general secretary (IPR and media).

The speakers emphasised on the real essence that cleanliness is not only outward but also about cleansing one’s heart and soul while also maintaining cleanliness in the system, to unitedly cleanse corruption from the country. The cleanliness drive began from Thahekhu village gate junction till the sub-urban police station junction during which volunteers from the three wings of the NPP Nagaland state took up the challenge of cleaning up the entire stretch.

It mentioned that the cleanliness was the first major initiative taken up by the NPP minority cell after it was became an integral constituent of the NPP Nagaland state led by its president Juel Acharjee and the general secretary Ashim Kumar Das on September 25.
