NPF’s 31 Akuluto A/C backs INC candidate, central office refutes claim
DIMAPUR — The 31 Akuluto Assembly Constituency (A/C) of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has declared “unanimous support” for S Supongmeren Jamir, the candidate from the Indian National Congress (INC), for the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election.
In a “declaration” made available to the media by the constituency’s general secretary, Huto Aye, it was stated that the party has resolved to support Supongmeren, bearing in mind the political legacy upheld by the framers of the Indian Constitution to safeguard the rights and privileges of minority sections and communities of the nation.
NPF central office refutes ‘declaration’
Meanwhile, the NPF central office has refuted the “declaration of a certain group of people using the name of Naga People’s Front” under the 31 Akuluto A/C, supporting the INC candidate.
The office clarified in a statement that the central office appointed office bearers for Zunheboto division and two assembly constituencies: 34 Aghunato A/C and 35 Zunheboto A/C. However, the NPF central office has not yet appointed office bearers for the other assembly constituencies within the division.
Furthermore, the NPF appealed to the electorate of Nagaland not to be swayed by such propaganda. The party reiterated its commitment to the decision made by its working committee on March 11 to support the PDA candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry.
