Naga People’s Front, Zunheboto Division, organises oath-taking-cum-felicitation programme.

DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Zunheboto Division organised an oath-taking-cum-felicitation programme at the Multipurpose Hall, Zunheboto town, on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Picto Shohe, MLA, urged party members to uphold the oath they had taken, stating that the present tenure would continue from 2026 to 2030, the party stated in an update.
He acknowledged the support of party members and noted that there was no previous history of Sumi representation in regional parties.
Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S Toiho Yeptho, has voiced his support for regional parties, saying national parties often overlook Naga issues.
He added that Nagaland is moving towards unity under the NPF banner, with 34 elected members so far, and emphasised the interdependence between the party and its MLAs.

G Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor of Land Resources, urged party workers not to spread rumours and to maintain harmony, emphasising the positive impact of government initiatives.
He highlighted the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) with 65 empanelled hospitals across the country, the strengthening of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) to ensure merit-based recruitment, and the government’s efforts to address unemployment. Zhimomi stated that approximately 70,000 youths are officially unemployed in Nagaland and mentioned initiatives such as the Japan Connect Programme to create overseas employment opportunities. He also added that international partnerships and events like the Hornbill Festival have opened new avenues for employment.
K Tokugha Sukhalu, Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, called upon party members to strengthen the organisation by supporting and encouraging one another.
He reminded the gathering that the NPF was initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister. Neiphiu Rio and urged members to actively uphold and shape the party.
Speaking on behalf of all six Assembly Constituencies, Khehoi Aye, president of 33 A/C, emphasised the need to avoid communication gaps within the party and highlighted the importance of effectively utilising Local Area Development Programme Fund (LADPF) for grassroots development.
Ahovi Zhimo, working president of NPF Zunheboto Division, called upon party workers to stand firm for the party, speak the truth, and collectively mould its future.
Emphasising that unity leads to economic growth, he appealed to landowners to cooperate with the government by selling land for developmental projects to help make Zunheboto a developed district.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by S Kakishe Muru, general secretary (administration), NPF Zunheboto Division. The event began with an opening hymn followed by an invocation by Rev. Inakhu Sumi, pastor of Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church.
The welcome address was delivered by Dennis P Awomi, president of Youth Wing, NPF Zunheboto Division. The oath to the Zunheboto NPF Division office bearers was administered by Kuhoi Zhimo, general secretary, COB IC, NPF Zunheboto Division, while the oaths to the six assembly constituencies were administered by Khehoshe H Yeptho, president of NPF Zunheboto Division.
A special prayer and blessing for the newly inducted office bearers was pronounced by Dr. Hutton Sumi, Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Zunheboto.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hotovi Chishi, vice president, NPF Zunheboto Division, followed by a benediction pronounced by Aheli Zhimo, secretary, Women Wing, NPF Zunheboto Division.
