[dropcap]A [/dropcap]unit of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has appealed to the minority communities in the state to cooperate with the authorities and restrain from any untoward activity as the commercial city of Dimapur comes to terms with the March 5 lynching of a rape suspect by a mob that spread across a shocked nation.
The minority wing of the NPF issued a note on Monday calling for peace particularly from the non-Naga Indian community members in the district. The unit expressed regret that the unfortunate incident had tarnished the state of Nagaland and her people nationally. The NPF’s minority wing has appreciated “the performance of Dimapur district administration to bring the unwanted situation of Dimapur city under control.” However, the unit appealed for calm and restraint from the non-Naga Indian community.
“Minority wing appeals to its community people to cooperate with the administration and restrain themselves from any untoward activity that would jeopardize the overall effort to sustain peaceful environment in the state”, the note from the political unit of the regional party stated on March 9.
The minority wing expressed vehement condemnation for the unfortunate incident in Dimapur, which the party said has tarnished the image of the state Nagaland “at national level”.
The wing extended gratitude to the chief minister of Nagaland “for assuring the security and protection of indigenous state minority people and non-Naga citizen of India in Nagaland.”
