Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): Alleging discrepancies in the distribution of food grains, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) under 55 Tobu assembly constituency has sought clarification with detailed report on the allocation of rice and other essential commodities provided to Tobu fair price shop (FPS) starting from November 2016 till date.

In a letter to the director of Food and Civil Supplies, the NPF Tobu has referred to the clarification letter from ADS Mon vide letter no. SPLY/ MON/ PDS-11/ 2020/ 186 dated Mon the 22nd of September 2020. Finding the clarification made by the concerned department ‘not satisfactory,’ NPF Tobu has sought genuine clarification at the earliest.

An NPF Toby statement, issued by its press and media cell secretary MA Wanmai Konyak, alleged that the actual allocation as per factual report of the department and the quantity received by the Tobu public do not tally as reported. It claimed that under FPS Tobu, out of 207 quintals of rice, the public are receiving only 123 quintals.

“If the rice is being disbursed to the actual beneficiaries according to the ration card holders, why are we getting only 3 kg of rice and where are the remaining rice?” it asked.

Regarding Aadhaar seeding, it stated that the concerned department never reached Tobu for the same. It therefore, questioned who the third person working for the department is if it is not the handiwork of the concerned department. It went on to allege that even the beneficiaries, who have already linked their Aadhaar with ration card, were found deleted from the list.

NPF Tobu also alleged that under the PMGKAY scheme, the public of Tobu received only dal and gram (chana) during the pandemic while other commodities under PHH scheme were also found missing and never reached Tobu FPS.

It also questioned as to why the FPS holder/ contractor is charging an amount of INR 80,250 as transportation charge as evident from countersign by senior inspector and store keeper, Mon, if the concerned FPS holder/ contractor is getting timely reimbursement from the department.

In the light of the mentioned circumstances, NPF Tobu has sought the intervention of the director of Food and Civil Supplies and to provide genuine clarification with full detail report on allocation of rice and other essential commodities. It further urged the director to depute officials to Tobu and verify the matter once and for all.
