Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): The NPF party has announced that it will support the NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind in the forthcoming Presidential election that is scheduled to be held on July 17.

A press communiqué from the NPF party president and Chief Minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu informed that “NPF is a permanent ally of the BJP and NDA, and considering that the NPF is also a principal component of the NEDA, the NPF-led DAN Government will vote without any hesitation in favour of the candidate proposed by the NDA to be the next President of India.”

He stated that the Naga People’s Front party has always been an ally of the “non-Congress national party” since the late 1970s and that this alliance was renewed and strengthened in the early part of 2003 when the non-Congress political parties came together and formed the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland.

The then Chairman of the NDA George Fernandes was a signatory to the said agreement, he stated.

He also stated that the alliance has grown from “strength to strength” maintaining a spirit of healthy alliance especially after the formation of the North East Democratic Alliance in May 2016 and the BJP and the NPF being principal partners of the alliance.

That the alliance being forged “with the BJP is based on Principles, and not for petty gains or power, and is to ensure maximum benefit, development and good governance to the people of the region.”

Therefore the NPF-led DAN government will vote without any hesitation in favour of the proposed NDA candidate in the coming Presidential election.
