NPF to field Lorho from Outer Manipur

DIMAPUR, March 9

Soso Lorho is the Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate for the Outer Parliamentary constituency of Manipur. However, till the filing of this report, the NPF is yet to announce officially in this connection. “We will declare it officially later this evening in Kohima,” Nagaland minister for Planning, TR Zeliang, informed Newmai News Network this evening.
TR Zeliang is the convenor of the ‘Search Committee’ of the party. He disclosed that Soso Lorho has been the consensus candidate of the NPF for the Manipur Outer seat.
Soso Lorho is the president of NPF, Manipur State. He was an ‘Acting Chief Minister’ and minister on several occasions in the Manipur Government several years ago. In those days ‘Acting Chief Minister’ was meant to term present day deputy chief minister. He had contested in the Lok Sabha polls in 1978 from the Congress (I) ticket. He became cabinet minister in the Manipur Government from 1980. He hails from Senapati district of Manipur.In another development, Left and Secular Alliance (LSA) has decided to field the candidature of Lien Gangte as the consensus for the Outer Parliamentary constituency of Manipur for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls. Lien Gangte is the vice president of Janata Dal-United (JD-U).
Left and Secular Alliance (LSA) is a group of non BJP and non-Congress ten political parties in Manipur. They are CPI, CPI (M), JD (S), JD (U), Shiv Sena, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress, All India Forward Block (AIFB) and Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA).
Mentionably, for the Inner seat, Dr. M Nara of the CPI will be fielded by this alliance.

LF, Congress announce candidates

Major political parties in Tripura including the ruling Left Front and opposition Congress today announced their party candidates for the two Lok Sabha constituencies which go to poll on April 7 and 12 respectively.
The Congress announced that former Vice-chancellor of Tripura university, Arunoday Saha would contest from West Tripura constituency and another educationist, Sachitra Debbarma would try his luck from East Tripura (ST) seat.
The President of Tripura unit of BJP, Sudhindra Dasgupta would fight from West Tripura seat and party unit vice-president Parikshit Debbarma would contest from East Tripura (ST).
Convener of the Left Front and sitting MP, Khagen Das earlier announced that state Industries and Commerce Minister Jitendra Chowdhuri would contest from the Tripura (East) ST constituency and Shankar Prasad Dutta, former MLA would from the Tripura (West) constituency.
Both the candidates belonged to CPI-M, the dominant partner of the Left Front.
The Trinamool Congress has announced that former Congress Minister and Chairman of the Tripura unit of TMC, Ratan Chakraborty would contest from Tripura West constituency and Bhriguram Reang, a former leader of opposition Congress would from Tripura East constituency.
