NPF to distribute party ticket for Manipur polls on Feb. 2

Dimapur, Jan. 24 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) will finally announce its candidates for the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly elections on February 2.

The ticket distribution ceremony will be held at 12.30 pm on February 2 at its office in Kohima, one-and-a-half-hour after the party’s Working Committee meeting at 11 am to be chaired by NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu to discuss the Manipur State Assembly polls.

According to the programme of the event, a copy of which is available with this newspaper and confirmed to be genuine by an NPF official, the ticket distribution and pledging ceremony will be chaired by the Secretary General of the party, Achumbemo Kikon.

It added that Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, Dr. Lorho S Pfoze, MP Lok Sabha (Manipur), former Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang, MLA Y Vikheho Swu and others will speak at the ticket handing over programme.

The elections for Manipur’s 60-member state assembly will be held in two phases – February 27 (six districts) and March 3 (10 districts) – and counting of votes will be done on March 10.
