The alleged victim, one Alemyanger, said to be aged about 56 years and hailing from Chuchuyimlang village, and a resident of Dimapur, is currently availing treatment at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital in Mokokchung. He disclosed to  Eastern Mirror that he was standing outside a shop in Chuchuyimlang town to recharge his mobile phone when he was approached by an NPF supporter and was asked to go along the latter. "I was standing outside a shop to recharge my phone when (the alleged perpetrator) who was known to me as he was from my village approached me and citing some excuse to talk something important in private I was taken to a deserted area where supporters of the NPF candidate were waiting for me," he said. He said that once they reached an isolated area, they started to beat him asking about the purpose of his visit from Dimapur and accused him of working against their party's candidate. He divulged that he was blindfolded and then taken to another place in a vehicle where more NPF supporters were waiting to assault him. "Once I was blindfolded and my hands were tied, I was taken to another place where they forced alcohol down my mouth and the beating became more severe while questioning about my visit to my native place and threatened to kill me as they suspected me to be working against their candidate,"  he said. He said also that they later put some chemicals in his mouth after which he did not recollect anything until regaining his sense at the hospital. Relatives have said that an FIR had been lodged with the Changtongya police station and a letter of complaint has been intimated to Mokokchung's deputy commissioner and to the returning officer of Changtongya.
