Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has slammed the People’s Democratic Alliance’s (PDA), describing its parliamentary electoral campaign held at DDSC Stadium on March 19 as “nothing short of a public display of the two biggest political chameleons in Naga politics.”
The NPF was pointing at chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton, in the communiqué issued by the party’s Press Bureau. It recounted how the CM deserted Dr. SC Jamir in protest against his book that stated “the 16 Point Agreement was the final solution between the Nagas, and the Government of India was vehemently condemned by Rio during the time.”
The party claimed that “Article 371(A), which has been the main subject of discussion in recent times, is an outcome of the 16 Point Agreement” but the CM has recently stated that Nagas should not talk against the article. The statement from the party described it as “double-standard” and “highly objectionable.”
It went on to say that “Rio’s unnecessary dig at the NPF party in putting up a candidate for the Lok Sabha election is nothing but a matter of amusement since it is an internal affair of the NPF party.” “The NPF Party is capable of handling its own affairs and will bring the matter to the public domain with the right explanation at the right time,” read the statement.
The NPF also took a dig at Patton, claiming that he has a habit of ditching “his leaders” and warned that it would reveal his past if he mocks the previous (DAN-III) government.
