Naga People's Front (NPF) demands transparent probe into killing of six Naga men in Manipur and urges restraint to preserve peace

DIMAPUR — The Naga People's Front (NPF) on Thursday called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the killing of six Naga men in Manipur and urged all communities to maintain calm amid rising tensions over the incident.
In a press communiqué, the party appealed to the government of India and the government of Manipur to probe the case and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to book.
The NPF stated that justice should be delivered to the victims without delay and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
Expressing grief over the deaths, the party said the loss of the six men had deeply affected the Naga community and extended its condolences to the bereaved families.

It also appealed against any retaliatory action, stating that violence would not resolve existing issues and could further aggravate tensions.
Reiterating its commitment to peace, the NPF called on stakeholders and civil society organisations to work towards ensuring the safety and security of Naga people.
Meanwhile, the party expressed concern over the vandalism of NPF Manipur state unit office in Senapati during the late hours of June 10.
The NPF alleged that unidentified miscreants were responsible for the incident and demanded that law enforcement agencies conduct an immediate investigation.
It called for those involved in the vandalism to be identified and proceeded against in accordance with the law.
The party further appealed to its workers and supporters to remain calm and not be provoked by attempts to disrupt peace.
