Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): The lone Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland, KG Kenye, during a coordination meeting with Naga People’s Front (NPF) workers of Kiphire district on June 28, that the NPF belongs to the Naga people and the party represents the Naga identity.
A press release issued by the NPF’s Press Bureau, Central Headquarter, while informing about the coordination meeting, quoted the MP s saying that the NPF is not a power mongering political party but a party to carry forward the Naga people to greater heights.
Saying that the NPF belongs to the Naga people and it represents the Naga identity, Kenye said that the NPF is not owned by any leader by belongs to the Naga people and “the party is the only inheritance we can give to our future generation”.
Reminding that the NPF was birthed at a time when the Nagas were in turmoil, the MP asserted that the sole aim of the party was for the uplift and strengthening of the Naga people.
“The NPF party is not just a mere political party unlike other political parties exist only for contesting the election and grab for power but to protect its people and work for the welfare of its people,” the parliamentarian is reportedly said.
While calling upon each party workers to take responsiblity to contribute to the Naga society, the MP asserted that ‘many political parties came and go in Nagaland but NPF party will exist as long as the Naga people exist as the NPF root is beyond election politics’.
Meanwhile, the release informed that NPF spokesperson, Achumbemo Kikon, during the coordination meeting, called for unity among the party workers “as the party is the only platform to preserve and protect the identity of the Naga people”.
Kikon, while asserting that the NPF will play a strong and constructive opposition, however, “did not ruled out that the government may shift to the NPF soon”, informed the release.
The NPF Press Bureau also informed that different speakers from the NPF Kiphire division spoke at the meeting and reassured their selfless commitment and service for the party in the days to come.
The Secretary General entourage to Kiphire was accompanied by members from Central Youth Wing, Central Farmers Wing, Legal Cell, Central Women Wing including the Central Office bearers, the release further informed.
