The Naga People’s Front party in a press release today have reiterated its stand that the Congress is Nagaland has lost sense of direction. It says the party misinformed the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi so much so that during the recent visit of the latter to the state capital Kohima the speech of the leader was riddled with ‘lies’ which has embarrassed Rahul Gandhi and the party high command. For this the released states, the state Congress unit was pulled up by its ‘feared high command in Delhi’, leaving the Nagaland Congress red faced and left with only fingers to point at the NPF.
The NPF release goes on to say that the state of affairs in the Congress indicates the lack of vision and clarity on any aspect. Its says in the past Congress leaders in Nagaland have failed miserably failed provide any vision to the Naga people, particularly the youth. They have become habitual liars and have passed on this undesirable habit to its high command. They have become an opposition that is stuck in making false allegations, unjustified accusations and time and again they have repeated these lies at every given opportunity. In a reference to the Congress booklet “11 years of NPF misrule’ the NPF release has described it as a ‘book of false allegations’ merely a ‘compilation of questions raised in the assembly over the past years, all of which have been satisfactorily replied with facts and figures’. The booklet however does not reflect the replies. The NPF has also asked the Naga people to assess the capability and capacity of Sonia Gandhi’s son, Rahul Gandhi. It has fallen short of terming Rahul Gandhi’s address as shallow but says it ‘lacked any intellectually convincing agenda and there was neither vision nor motivation for the youth. Sonia’s son probably has some of the best minds of the country working for him from behind the scenes but even then his incapability has been exposed time and again. He has failed to convince the people of the region in all his visits to different states of the north east, apart from making promises and commitments. The people of the north east want action and decisions, not promises and commitments which remain pipe dreams’.
The NPF statement alludes to a sense of fear lurking in the minds of Congress leaders as they see the strengthening of the NPF and which perhaps might explain the Congress engaging in below belt policies. It says the election of Neiphiu Rio as the leader of the North East Regional Parties Front (NERPF) speaks volumes of the acceptability of the NPF and the Chief Minister of Nagaland in the eyes of the people of the region. It is indeed a proud moment for all Nagas, irrespective of political affiliation, considering the fact that with only a single member representative in each house of parliament. The Congress is unable to digest the fact that the NPF and its leadership are playing a bigger and more contributory role in regional and national politics.
The Congress as a national party, have failed to serve the people and have succeeded only in serving the Gandhi family in far-away Delhi. The NPF has also taken a dig at the gaping gap in the failure of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, whose two terms as prime minister will end with without him ever visiting the 16th State of the Indian Union. This the NPF press release highlighted is the real achievement of the Congress as far as Nagaland is concerned.
The NPF is confident that the Naga people are proud of the party’s achievements and contributions. Naga people, through the ideology of regionalism, have arrived and we are ready to play a greater and more contributory role beyond our borders. It is an achievement for all Nagas and this achievement has been made possible because of the wholesome support of all sections of the Nagas for the NPF and its leadership in the past decade. The party has appealed to the Naga family across all boundaries to once again come forward and extend support, love, prayers to the party and its leadership to enable their voices to be heard and respected.
