Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): In an emergency meeting called by the Naga People’s Front Legislature Party (NPFLP) regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha election at the Assembly Complex on Monday, the party has reaffirmed not to file nominations to the said election.

The decision came days after NPF announced its decision to field veteran politician, Thenucho Tunyi as its candidate. The party had also formed a committee comprising its working presidents, secretary general, sr. vice president, president of the farmer’s wing, and presidents of the women’s wing on March 18 to deliberate on the matter.

In a letter addressed to the president of the NPF party, it said that the NPFLP approved his stand that the NDPP and BJP had not taken proper consultation for nomination to the Rajya Sabha election.

However, it said that it was agreed upon that the UDA government was formed on the consensus of pursuing the Naga political issue based on a negotiated solution at the earliest. Following which, one of the NPF MLA was inducted in the Cabinet along with UDA Chairman.

It added that under such a situation, the NPFLP cannot file nomination to the Rajya Sabha election, as doing so would signify the party’s withdrawal from the coalition government of UDA.
