Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): While expressing its concern over the rise of the novel coronavirus cases across the world, particularly in India, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Monday appreciated the NDPP-led PDA government for taking up preventive measures in the state.
The opposition party however felt that more stringent effort is required to check and prevent even a single case of Covid-19 in the state, according to a press release issued by its press bureau. It said the virus should be tackled “collectively”.
The party has appealed to the government to install a Covid-19 testing centre in Nagaland, stating that Guwahati is the only nearest testing centre for Nagaland, which it said is not feasible for the people owing to the distance. It also felt that the Dimapur Railway station should be minutely monitored as thousands of visitors travel every day and hundreds of people come to Nagaland through the transport system.
Urging the government to check the supply and availability of face mask and hand sanitiser, which are said to be sold at exorbitant price, the NPF said that the government agencies should put its effort to check the price rise. It also called upon the government to give its best effort in educating the people, even in the remotest areas, about the safety measures and express hope it is equipped with all modern technologies.
The NPF has also called upon the citizens not to fear but to “uphold one another in prayers so that Almighty God will save us from the pandemic Covid-19”.
