NPF Kohima Division sports meet commences

Principal Correspondent Viswema, September 10 Naga People’s Front (NPF) Kohima Division Sports Meet hosted by 15th Southern Angami-II Assembly Constituency got underway here today with Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology & Wildlife Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire hoisting the tournament flag at John High School, Viswema. Seven teams including Western Angami, Northern Angami-I & II, Southern Angami –I & II, Kohima Town and team of Kohima Division NPF are participating in the sports meet, which has football for men and volleyball for women. Playing the first men’s football match, NA-I A/C defeated Kohima Town A/C by 6-5 via tie breaker as the teams were locked in 1-1 draw during the stipulated time while in second match NA-II A/C knocked Kohima Division by 5-2. Mention may be made here that intending candidate for NA-II by-election Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu is leading his constituency as the skipper. In the women’s volleyball, Kohima Town A/C beat NA-I A/C and NA-II A/C won against Kohima Division. Parliamentary Secretary for Printing & Stationery and Arts & Culture Kropol Vitsu, intending candidate for the forthcoming 11th Northern Angami – II A/C by-election Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu and several other party workers were also present at the opening function. Earlier, the opening function was chaired by Kesoneilie Theiinuo, general secretary NPF Kohima Division while Suosahie, vice president Kohima Division prayed for the programme. The schedule for other days is September 17 and 24 while the finals will be held on September 27 at the same venue with Minister for Social Welfare Kiyanilie Peseyie as the chief guest. The closing function will be chaired by President NPF Kohima Division Theyiekielie Tachü while welcome address will be delivered by President 15th Southern Angami-II A/C Zasivoto Rote.
